The state listed on my wife's 1099-R is the state we lived in, but not our state of residence. We were stationed in MD, but we are TX residents. Our military PCS orders brought us to MD... please advise for which state we 'lived' in.
You are Texas residents. The fact you were stationed in MD does not make any of your income taxable there. If no MD tax was taken out, then you will not file any state return (TX has no state tax, of course). If MD tax was taken out then you will file a MD return to get all of that back. You would zero out your Maryland income to do this.
