In my w2 box 17 says that they took taxes from my paycheck to the state of Arkansas however the income tax is from being active duty and Arkansas has not income taxes if is military. Will this money will be given back to me in my tax return.

also I'm filing online and I'm almost done I'm reviewing my taxes and it doesn't identify the income as military. So is saying that such income is taxable when is not

Please make sure you indicated in two places that you are military before moving to your Arkansas state return:

    • The first is in the "My Info" section after you enter your name and occupation. You can click on "My Info" on the left and click on "Edit" next to your name. Scroll down to "I am a member or former member of the U.S. Armed Forces (active, reserve or National Guard)." Turbo Tax will ask follow-up questions.
    • The second is on the "Do any of these uncommon situations apply to this W-2?" screen after you enter your W-2, you can check the active-duty military box for the W-2. (click "search" on top right for W-2 and use the jump link)

TurboTax will automatically exempt the military pay and you should get a refund on the withholdings if you did not have any other taxable income in Arkansas.
