As a Federal Civil Servant, I paid approximately $20,000 towards my FERS retirement (LES Block 20. Military Deposit).  Although my normal monthly FERS deposits are pretax, my W2 from DFAS makes no mention of this deposit.  Therefore, I am being taxed for this deposit wherein were it deposited via monthly paycheck, I would not have been taxed.  I have reviewed multiple IRS publications and have not found one that applies to my situation.  Does anyone know how to get tax credit for this retirement deposit?  Thanks in advance for your assistance.

To clarify, your W-2 doesn't have an entry in box 12 with code D for the pre-tax contributions from your monthly paycheck? You might want to talk to the issuer of the W-2 why you do not have an entry.
