Question

How Do I file Military active duty on WV State taxes? My base was out of state/Country and also Deployed.

If you are a resident of WV, but in 2024 you spent less than 30 days in the state, you need to go back to the residency section at the beginning of the WV tax return, and change your West Virginia Residency to  Special Nonresident (Form IT-140).

 

Next, on Tell Us Your State of Residence, choose Out of State. If that is your situation, your active duty military pay will be exempt from WV tax.
