Question

I am active duty military. I moved from Texas to New York on assignment in May of 2016 to present. Do I indicate on my taxes that I lived in another state during 2016?

No...you never move..you always live in TX for the whole year (for tax purposes).

The only time you will indicate another state is when you work and of-duty civilian job in some state other than TX

.......and even then you wouldn't indicate that as a "move" state.    It would be indicated separately at the bottom f the Personal Info page as "Other state income"
