Question

I'm active duty military and a FL resident. My wife doesn't work and is a CO resident. Do we have to file (and pay) a CO state tax return?

No, not this year.  Since she didn't work, there is no state income to declare anywhere.  (Florida has no income tax, and your military pay is not taxed in any other state, even if you are stationed there).  This could change in the future if your wife does start to work.  Please see this FAQ for more information:  https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/3302300

Thanks for the reply/info. Is there any way to get a refund for paying ($37) to file CO taxes? (I filed because that is what turbo tax had me do)
