Question

I was deployed to Afghanistan in in August and September with the US Air Force. I was told those months should've been tax free but i was still taxed on my LES.

Check your W-2 entry. Your income should be coded on your W-2 for an applicable deployment income exclusion.

 

Also, make sure you have indicated in the MY INFO section that your are 'active duty'.
