Married Filing Joint: I'm Active Duty Military (AL Resident) my spouse works/lives in GA and W-2 shows her paying GA State tax. Can I file AL and her GA State Tax?

If I file both of us in AL I owe quite a bit, if I file AL and she files GA (she pays GA State income tax) then its not as substantial.

If you are each residents of different states, you will need to file separately for the states even though you filed a joint federal return.  Your Alabama resident return will include only your income and tax items, and her Georgia return will include only her items.
