Military member trying to file state tax

I am a military reservist that has my military pay taxed by Connecticut (where I entered service) but live in MD where I am filing full time residency. For whatever reason I am unable to e file my return because I have an amount entered for the non resident income. Please advise.

If you have become a MD resident, you would change your military residency. If you are a CT resident living in MD, you are a MD nonresident.

See Administrative Release 1 - Comptroller of Maryland for how to handle MD income based on your actual situation.

One state must be filed as resident and the other as non-resident. Prepare the nonresident return first to create a tax liability in order to get a credit on your resident return.

CT says: Residents entering military service remain Connecticut residents for income tax purposes, regardless of duty station state, until a change of legal residence has been made.
