How can I change my Military Status to show that I was active duty for part of the year and reserve for the rest?

You won't really need to separate that way. In the personal info section you are asked what your status was on 31 Dec. From there you will get drop down to ask if you started or ended service in 2020 or served all year whether reserve or active duty.

The other place to be sure to enter military status is in the "Income & Expenses" area. When you enter your W2(s) be sure to indicate which are "Active Duty" in the follow on pages after entering the form data (page titled "Uncommon Situations').
