I left the military in February 2021.

It asks what was your status as of Dec 31, 2021.

The four answers do not apply to me so what am I supposed to check.

I was not active duty

I was not Reserves

I was not National Guard

I did not retire

This question is in personal history.

I simply left the military but did not retire.

You can select "I left the military in 2021" when you select the "Active Duty" on the "Taxpayer, what was your military status as of December 31, 2021?" screen.

Please follow these steps to enter your military status correctly:

    1. Click “My Info” tab in the black bar on the side of your screen.
    2. Click “Edit” next to your name.
    3. Scroll down to the last question in Section 1: “My spouse is a member or former member of the U.S. Armed Forces (active, reserve or National Guard)”
    4. Answer "Yes" and click “Continue”.
    5. On the "Taxpayer, what was your military status as of December 31, 2021?" screen select "Active Duty" and then "I left the military in 2021".

Please makes sure to check the active-duty box for your military pay on the "Do any of these uncommon situations apply to this W-2?" screen after you enter your W-2:

    1. Login to your TurboTax Account
    2. Click on "Search" on the top right and type “W-2”
    3. Click on “Jump to W-2”
    4. Enter your W-2
    5. Check the active-duty box on the "Do any of these uncommon situations apply to this W-2?" screen
