military status for new reservist (trying to answer vague TurboTax questions)

I entered the Marine Reserves in July 2019 (bootcamp, MCT, ooo-rah!) and then transferred to my MOS which will take me thru August 2020. Until my MOS is over, am I considered Active Military or a part of the Reserves as of 12/31/19?

In the "My Info" section you will select "yes" to the "military or former military" question. You should then select "reserves" and "entered military in 2019". When you enter your form W2 information under the "Income & Expenses tab, you should select the "active duty pay" button in the follow on question for that W2.

You may also be eligible for the military "free file" with TurboTax.
