Question

My home of record is in Kansas, I’m in the military & I did basic training and schooling in South Carolina at the beginning of the year. I did more schooling in Kentucky later in the year,

And then went on to be stationed in Texas and have been here since June 29. I just recently changed my state taxes to the state of Texas, because I do live here. But my home of record still reads Kans

Kansas says that you must file a Kansas return, from KS DOR. As long as the military home of record is Kansas, you will be paying Kansas.

Texas does not have state taxes so you will only be taxed by Kansas and only have 1 state return to file.

 

Because you are in the military, SC and KY will not be taxing your military income. If you took a side job in one of those states, then you may need to file a return for the extra wages.
