My wife and I are filing jointly and she is active duty military. My income is taxed in MA but she is a NC resident and pays taxes there. Does she pay taxes in both?

If she is a nonresident of MA and on active duty, she does not pay taxes in MA on military pay. However, you can't file a joint MA tax return - income will not be split up properly.

You can file a joint federal return and separate state returns, but it’s more difficult (and expensive) do this in TurboTax Online - you should use the CD/Download version.
