Question

Ohio taxes for combined military and civil svc. TT asks for separate military retirement and tot al civil svc. Are the two separate numbers to equal total on 1099R?

Are we talking about one 1099R? Is this 1099R for Military pension, civil pension of both? If it is a combination pension, the totals would need to equal total on 1099R. If it is either military OR civilian, you would enter 100% of the total for one, and "0" for the other. Other than this, it would be hard to comment on without knowing the context of the pension income other than it is a government pension.
