State of residence for military spouse and previous states lived in

Yes, TurboTax can handle this.  First, review this FAQ regarding Military Spouse state filing requirements:  https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/3302300.  If you have established residency in the same state of record as your husband, then take the following steps so that the correct returns are filed:

Answer no to the question if you worked (or lived) in another state other than (spouse’s state of record).  It will remove any other states from the return.  Because of the MSRRA, you do not have to file any other state returns other than your home state (if that state has a tax return; some don’t)

In addition, you want to make sure your husband’s w-2 is marked as Active Duty Military in TurboTax.  To do this: 

1.           Sign in to TurboTax Online, click take me to my return, then pick up where I left off.

2.           Click on Wages and Income, then Edit on your W-2

3.           Scroll through the screens until Do any of these uncommon situations apply?  Make sure the Active Military Box is checked. 

If you are not protected under the MSRRA (see the Joe and Mary example in the FAQ to see if your state of residence is different from your husband’s state of record), you likely have separate state filing requirements (does not affect your Federal return).  You would want to check yes that you worked in another state and what that state was.  But make sure that your husband’s W-2 is marked as above.  Although is income may be reported on the return, it will also be excluded and not taxable to that state.
