TurboTax is trying to get me to pay for the deluxe but I’m in the military?

Go back through the "My Info" section and be sure you have answered all the military questions including rank.  Next, re-check the military W2 entries being sure that you have selected "Active Duty Military Pay" when asked in the follow on question.  Then continue your return and the filing process, any discounts will be applied during the filing interview.  Here is a link with more information on the Military Free File program.
