Why does my state return keep flagging my military pay

I had active duty military pay for one month in 2020 before my retirement date but turbo tax keeps flagging my return saying "Schedule M: Line 21-Military Pay should not have value"

First, may I assume that you are talking about Schedule M in Illinois?

 

Second, please see this post from last year on apparently the same issue.

 

It may be the order in which things are entered that makes a difference; at least, it gives you a workaround (if it works for you).
