You will get whatever military deductions that you qualify for, so long as you make the correct entries.
For example:
1. In the Personal Info or My Info, if you are active duty, reserve, or National Guard, you must indicate this just under your name and state of residence.
2. On the screen after your DFAS W-2, be sure to indicate active duty pay.
3. On any 1099-R that represents a military pension, be sure to indicate the correct source of the pension in the screens that follow the 1099-R.
4. In the state interviews, be sure to stop and read carefully any screens that refer to the military - many states have such a screen(s).
