2022 MA tax rebate filing

In 2022 November, I received Massachusetts tax rebate check.  Now, according to the IRS filing guideline, I want to enter the tax rebate check amount as income.  I could not see where to enter the amount in TurboTax Premier.  I assume TurboTax will guide me through to enter this rebate amount.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

    Enter it as other income.

Please follow the instructions below to report your cash (check)  income on line 8, Schedule 1:

    • Click Federal Taxes -> Wages & Income and scroll down to Less Common Income
    • Go to the last selection, Miscellaneous Income and click Start
    • Go to the last option, Other reportable income and click Start
    • When it asks, "Any other reportable income?" say yes and then type in a description and the amount to report it on your tax return.

    Thank you so much.

Important: If your 1099-G shows an amount in box 1, go here for alternate instructions, as the steps below won't work.

Otherwise, if your 1099-G has amounts in box 2, follow these instructions:

    1. Open or continue your return in TurboTax
    2. Go to Search and enter 1099-g
    3. Select Jump to 1099-G nd answer Yes
    4. Answer a few more questions about your refund until you get to the Tell us about your refund screen
    5. Enter your total refund received in 2022
      • Enter the amount in box 2 (state or local income tax refunds, credits, or offsets)
      • If you received multiple 1099-Gs for the same state or locality, both with the same tax year in box 3, enter the box 2 sum
      • For example, you received two 1099-Gs from Colorado. They both have 2022 in box 3, and their box 2 amounts are $1,000 and $800 respectively. You'd enter $1,800 in Total refund received in 2022
    6. Enter your total of all your payments and withholding
      • Enter the total taxes you paid to the state or locality for the same tax year as the refund (this includes withholdings as well as estimated tax and other payments)
      • You can get this amount from your state or local tax return for the tax year of the refund. Look for a line near the bottom, often bolded, that includes the phrase total payments
    7. Enter tax year of refund, which is box 3 of your 1099-G

    Hi,

Thank you for the prompt response.  The Mass. 2022 Tax rebate is not the same as state tax refund and no 1099-G form to send to all the recipients in Mass.  IRS new law in Feb. 2023 states that we need to file this rebate amount as income if we didn't use the standard deduction in 2021 tax return.

That's why I tried to find the spot to enter this rebate amount in TurboTax but no luck.

    Thanks,
