I brought a new 2024 car, can I put that on my taxes?

Hi. I want to know what exactly should my W-4 be going from single 0 allowances to married filing jointly with 2 dependents. Is current W-4 correct as married 1 allowance? I don't think HR is taking out correct amount for Federal or State taxes.

why can't i edit the 'Check the Entry' field?

In another post I wanted to learn how to report income from a foreign pension.  Again, this has nothing to do with a 401(k) or IRA as no portion of my salary was invested on the stock exchange in my country of origin (I am still citizen of that country).   This income is really very similar to "social security" here in the U.S.  Also, according to the bi-lateral tax agreement between the 2 countries stipulates that the IRS can't tax this accrued income that is based on my employment history.  Of course, that does not mean that I can just skip reporting said income, I will need to report it. The problem isn't necessarily how to report the income, BUT it appears impossible to claim a tax credit on a modest pension ("foreign social security")!   A foreign tax credit can only be claimed against foreign income, but I can't report this foreign income as foreign income as I would have to dream up a fake/bogus 1099R.   That said, the so-called

My parents sold MA residence mid May, and I moved to a VA apartment at start of June. I considered the MA residence my permanent residence, but I had a PA apartment for school and my parents got a MA apartment (I am not on their lease). I did a change of address for my mail with USPS to the MA apartment from the MA sold residence. Would earned bank interest during the time between MA and VA be for MA or PA? Do I just get to choose based on what I consider my permanent (2 week) residence?

I cannot locate the home sale section.

I've searched around and I can't seem to find an answer to this question.   Last year I received around $500K from a federal disaster declared wildfire settlement that occurred in 2020. As I understand it all relief payments that are received between 2016 and 2026 are considered exempt per tax bill HR 5863 that was passed last year but does that exempt legal settlements? If so, are there any considerations or exceptions? Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place. Thanks

I travelled to another country and made some purchases there (around $600) and wanted to ask if I was required to pay Virginia use taxes on them. From my understanding, I would need to pay use taxes on domestic purchases and online purchases, but I haven't found anything on purchases that I made outside the country and then brought back with me.

Can I manually edit tax form 8801 in the Online version of TT? I amended my 2023 Return, resulting in a change in Minimum Tax credit carry forward to 2024. I already paid for 2024, but my tax form 8801 for 2024 still shows the old credit carry forward from before the tax return amendment. I need to update this value.I don't seem to find a way to edit tax form 8801 directly in the online version of Turbo Tax.I think this can be done in the desktop version, but I already paid for the online version. Unfortunately, I have been unsuccessful in getting an agent from Turbo Tax to speak with me. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

In Federal Taxes > Deductions & Credits > Estimates and Other Taxes Paidthere is a line item "Other Income Taxes". TurboTax is showing a large number here and we were wondering where the number came from. If we click on "Learn More" next to "Other Income Taxes," the explanation says that the line item does NOT include taxes paid and reported on a W-2 or 1099." (Note the quotation marks) HOWEVER,if we click on the actual number, the pop-up explanation specifically says "This includes amounts from your W-2s and 1099s." (Again, note the quotation marks) This is contradictory. The numbers do indeed seem to include taxes paid through W-2s and 1099s, which means they are NOT "other income taxes" and should not appear here. This is an import error by TurboTax. Correct?

I am an Oregon resident and I am receiving retirement income from Canada.  I was able to use approx $7800 of available $11,200 foreign taxes as a federal tax credit so I have a carey forward on Federal return.  Is there a way to leverage some of this carry forward to reduce my Oregon taxes.  Is there a specific subtraction code that would allow me to use some of this carry forward.  I read something about being able to use up to $3000 for married filing jointly but not sure exactly the process.  Any insight would be appreciated 

She only does cash and doesn't give me a form. My documentation is me taking this cash out of my account every week.
